Indicators Overlay
Oct 25, 2021

The Indicators Overlay indicator provides a multi-panel visualization system that displays several technical oscillators and volume metrics directly on the main chart area for efficient workspace management. By dynamically positioning indicator windows at the top or bottom of the chart based on price movement, it allows traders to monitor RSI, CCI, OBV, and other essential metrics without cluttering the sub-pane area.
Usage
The Usage section describes how the script can be used to streamline multi-indicator analysis. The tool is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of momentum, trend, and volume without requiring the user to scroll through multiple sub-windows.
- Dynamic Positioning: The indicator windows automatically shift between the top and bottom of the chart depending on the recent closing price. This ensures that the technical indicators do not overlap with price action candles.
- Layering Management: To ensure the overlay windows remain visible above other chart elements, users should right-click any indicator window and select "Visual Order" -> "Bring to front."
- Customization: Users can toggle individual indicators on or off. When multiple indicators are enabled, they stack vertically within the designated window area. The "Length for Each Window" setting controls the horizontal lookback period for the plotted data.
Details
The script incorporates several popular technical indicators, each with customizable source inputs and periods. The following metrics are supported:
- Momentum Oscillators: Relative Strength Index (RSI), Commodity Channel Index (CCI), Stochastic, Money Flow Index (MFI), Chande Momentum Oscillator (CMO), and Stochastic RSI.
- Volume Metrics: On Balance Volume (OBV) and Chaikin Money Flow (CMF).
- Trend & Volatility: Directional Movement Index (DMI/ADX) and Average True Range (ATR).
The implementation uses a modular drawing system to render horizontal levels (e.g., 30/70 for RSI or -100/100 for CCI) as dashed lines with accompanying labels. It also includes optimized alert conditions for common signals, such as overbought/oversold crosses and signal line crossovers.
