The ScalpMap - EMA Pivot Targets indicator provides a lightweight mapping tool for identifying high-probability scalp targets and pivot-derived levels. By utilizing an EMA34 directional filter and dual-layer pivot detection, the script highlights relevant support and resistance zones while filtering out market noise to assist in finding clean impulse scalp opportunities.

Usage

The Usage section describes how the script can be used to navigate price action on lower timeframes. The indicator is primarily designed for NQ/MNQ futures on timeframes ranging from 15 seconds to 1 minute, depending on current volatility.

  • Directional Bias: Use the orange EMA34 line as the primary trend filter. When price is trading above the EMA, look for long-side setups; when price is trading below the EMA, look for short-side setups.
  • Target Mapping: Blue levels indicate upper targets/resistance points, while red levels indicate lower targets/support points.
  • Impulse Scalping: Look for "clean air" opportunities where price breaks through a level with significant space before the next target. Avoid entries where levels are tightly clustered, as these often result in chop or lower R:R trades.
  • Level Flipping: Levels can flip from resistance to support (or vice versa) after a confirmed close-through. This allows the tool to maintain focus on the most relevant structure surrounding current price.

Details

The script's construction relies on two distinct pivot layers to capture different types of market structure:

  1. Tight Close-Based Pivots: These capture local structure based on candle closes, ideal for high-frequency scalp targets.
  2. Wide Wick-Based Pivots: These utilize candle highs and lows to identify larger rejection points and major swing structure.

The tool includes a memory-optimized "aging" mechanism. Pivots are retired after two confirmed closes through the level (strike system). This prevents historical clutter and ensures that only active structure is displayed. If current price trades into an area with no recent historical pivots (such as All-Time Highs), the script generates synthetic extension levels based on ATR to provide continued guidance.

Settings

  • Version: Displays the current script version.
  • Tight Close Lookback: Sets the lookback period for detecting local structure based on candle closes.
  • Wide Wick Lookback: Sets the lookback period for detecting larger swing points based on candle wicks.
  • Minimum Swing Distance: Defines the minimum distance required between levels to prevent overlapping and reduce visual clutter.

FAQ

How do I interpret the level colors? Blue levels represent targets above the current price (resistance), while red levels represent targets below the current price (support).

What does it mean when a level disappears? Levels are retired after the price has closed through them twice, indicating the structure has been "cleared" or is no longer providing significant local influence.
