The IFR4ALL indicator is a specialized momentum oscillator that enhances the traditional Relative Strength Index (RSI) with dual Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs) and a multi-level threshold system to identify trend exhaustion and momentum shifts.

Usage

The Usage section focuses on interpreting the interactions between the RSI line, its smoothed EMAs, and the various horizontal levels.

  • Momentum Analysis: Traders can observe the crossovers between the fast EMA (EMA 1) and the slow EMA (EMA 2) applied to the RSI values. A crossover of the fast EMA above the slow EMA suggests increasing bullish momentum, while a cross under suggests bearish pressure.
  • Level Identification: Unlike standard RSI oscillators that only use two levels (30/70), this tool utilizes seven distinct levels to categorize market sentiment:
    • Oversold (15) & Level 2 (25): Deep value zones where reversals are common.
    • Medium (50): The pivot point for bullish or bearish bias.
    • Level 6 (75) & Overbought (85): High-extension zones where the trend may be overstretched.
  • Trend Confirmation: The additional levels (Level 3 at 36 and Level 5 at 63) act as intermediate support or resistance zones within the RSI scale, helping to filter noise during strong trending moves.

Details

The IFR4ALL indicator is a spinoff of the "RSI4RULES" concept, designed to provide more granular control over RSI-based technical analysis. It calculates a standard RSI based on the close price and then derives two EMAs from those RSI values.

The implementation uses a 7-period RSI by default, making it highly reactive to recent price action. By layering multiple horizontal lines, the script allows for a more nuanced view of market cycles than a binary overbought/oversold approach. The visual output includes alerts for EMA crossovers and breaches of the primary overbought/oversold boundaries to assist in real-time monitoring.

Settings

  • RSI Length: The lookback period used to calculate the Relative Strength Index.
  • EMA 1 Length: The period for the first (faster) Exponential Moving Average applied to the RSI.
  • EMA 2 Length: The period for the second (slower) Exponential Moving Average applied to the RSI.
  • Oversold Level: Defines the primary lower boundary (default 15).
  • Level 2: The second lower boundary (default 25).
  • Level 3: The third lower boundary (default 36).
  • Medium Level: The midpoint of the oscillator (default 50).
  • Level 5: The first upper boundary (default 63).
  • Level 6: The second upper boundary (default 75).
  • Overbought Level: Defines the primary upper boundary (default 85).

FAQ

How do I interpret the EMA crossovers on the RSI? A crossover of the fast EMA over the slow EMA within the RSI pane typically indicates a bullish shift in momentum, whereas a cross under indicates a bearish shift.

Can I adjust the levels to fit different assets? Yes, all seven levels are fully customizable in the settings menu to accommodate the different volatility profiles of stocks, forex, or crypto.
