The MACD Histogram Multi-Timeframe indicator provides a comprehensive view of momentum by overlaying MACD histogram data from up to three different timeframes on a single chart. This tool helps traders identify trend direction and potential momentum shifts across varying time horizons, enhancing the ability to spot high-probability trade setups through multi-timeframe confirmation.

Usage

The tool is primarily used to identify momentum crossovers and trend alignment. The primary histogram represents the current chart timeframe, while secondary data points (circles and crosses) represent higher or different timeframes.

  • Momentum Identification: A positive histogram (green) indicates that the MACD line is above the signal line, suggesting bullish momentum. Conversely, a negative histogram (red) suggests bearish momentum.
  • Trend Confirmation: Traders can look for alignment across multiple timeframes. For example, if both the current timeframe histogram and the daily timeframe indicator are green, it signifies stronger bullish conviction.
  • Zero-Line Crossovers: Bullish crossovers occur when the histogram moves from below to above the zero line. Bearish crossovers occur when it moves from above to below the zero line.

Details

The MACD Histogram represents the difference between the MACD line (the difference between two Exponential Moving Averages) and the signal line (a 9-day EMA of the MACD). This script utilizes the request.security() function to fetch data from different timeframes without requiring the user to switch chart views. It also includes background highlighting features to visually represent when specific timeframes are in a bullish state.
