RSI Momentum Divergence Zones
Aug 11, 2025

The RSI Momentum Divergence Zones indicator is a hybrid oscillator and chart overlay tool that detects momentum-based RSI divergences and projects them as dynamic support and resistance zones on the price chart. This tool helps traders identify high-probability areas where market momentum shifts, turning hidden divergence signals into actionable structural levels.
Usage
The Usage section outlines how to integrate the tool into a trading strategy:
- Supply and Demand: Use bullish divergence zones as potential demand areas and bearish zones as supply areas.
- Reversal Confirmation: Combine labels in the RSI pane with price-level zones on the main chart to confirm the strength of potential reversals.
- Reaction Zones: Monitor price as it approaches a divergence level to anticipate market reactions or potential breakouts.
- Trade Management: Utilize divergence levels as entry triggers, stop-loss guides, or take-profit markers.
- Clutter Control: Use the "Qty Divergence Zones" setting to limit the number of active zones, keeping the chart focused on the most recent structural shifts.
Details
This script implements a unique approach to divergence detection by utilizing price momentum rather than raw price as the RSI source. Specifically, it uses ta.mom(close, 10) to emphasize the acceleration and deceleration of price movements. This allows the indicator to identify momentum shifts before they are reflected in standard RSI readings.
The tool detects two primary divergence types:
- Bullish Divergence: Price makes a Lower Low while the Momentum RSI forms a Higher Low.
- Bearish Divergence: Price makes a Higher High while the Momentum RSI forms a Lower High.
The zone extension logic is dynamic. Once a divergence point is confirmed, a horizontal zone is projected. These zones extend as long as price respects the level. If price breaks the level in the opposite direction, the extension stops, and the line becomes dashed to visually represent a break in structure.
Settings
- RSI Length: Adjusts the period used for the RSI calculation.
- Enable Divergence Detection: Toggles the automatic scanning for classic and hidden momentum divergences.
- Show Divergence Zones: Enables or disables the projection of horizontal zones on the price chart.
- Qty Divergence Zones: Controls the maximum number of historical zones displayed simultaneously to prevent chart clutter.
- Bearish Color: Customizes the visual color for bearish signals and zones.
- Bullish Color: Customizes the visual color for bullish signals and zones.
FAQ
How do I access the RSI Momentum Divergence Zones?
You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
What makes this different from standard RSI Divergence?
Unlike standard indicators, this tool uses a momentum-based source for the RSI calculation, making it more sensitive to the rate of price change rather than just price levels. It also automatically converts these signals into dynamic chart zones.
Why do some zones disappear or turn dashed?
Zones are managed by an automated logic that detects breaks. If price closes through a bearish zone or below a bullish zone, the zone is considered "broken," stops extending, and visually changes to a dashed line before eventually being removed based on the quantity settings.
