Breakout Volume PRO
May 28, 2025

The Breakout Volume PRO indicator tracks real-time and projected volume to identify significant market moves before a candle closes. By comparing current activity against historical averages, it helps traders detect accumulation, distribution, and potential price breakouts with early visual cues.
Usage
The tool is primarily used to confirm the strength behind price movements. When volume exceeds the calculated threshold, it suggests strong institutional or retail participation, which often precedes a sustained trend or reversal.
- Bullish Breakout: When volume exceeds the threshold and the candle is bullish, the bar is colored green (default), indicating strong buying pressure.
- Bearish Breakout: When volume exceeds the threshold and the candle is bearish, the bar is colored red (default), indicating strong selling pressure.
- Projected Breakout: If the current volume is lower than the threshold but the projected volume (based on the time elapsed in the bar) is expected to exceed it, the bar is highlighted in blue. This allows for early anticipation of high-volume events.
- Normal Volume: Bars that do not meet the breakout criteria remain gray, indicating standard market activity.
Details
The script calculates a "Breakout Threshold" by applying a user-defined multiplier to a Simple Moving Average (SMA) of the volume.
A key feature of this indicator is the projection logic. For intraday and daily timeframes, the script calculates the elapsed time within the current bar and extrapolates the current volume to estimate what the final volume will be at the close. This "volProjected" value is then compared against the threshold to provide early warnings.
Settings
- Show Breakout Threshold: Toggles the visibility of the shaded area representing the volume breakout level.
- Show Base Volume Avg: Toggles the display of the baseline Simple Moving Average (SMA) of the volume.
- Highlight Early High Volume: Enables or disables the coloring for projected volume breakouts.
- Volume Avg Length: Sets the lookback period for the volume SMA used to determine the baseline.
- Breakout Multiplier: Determines how many times the average volume must be exceeded to trigger a breakout signal.
- Visual Customization: Users can adjust colors for projected, bullish, bearish, and base volume, as well as the opacity of the threshold area.
FAQ
How do I use the projected volume signals?
Projected signals appear when the current rate of trading suggests the volume will finish above the threshold. These are early warnings that a high-volume event is likely occurring before the candle actually closes.
Can this indicator be used on all timeframes?
Yes, the script is compatible with all timeframes, including seconds, minutes, and daily charts, as it dynamically adjusts its projection calculations based on the chart interval.
