MTF candles by yatrader2 signals
Dec 30, 2018

The MTF candles by yatrader2 signals indicator provides a comprehensive signaling system based on Multi-Timeframe (MTF) candle analysis and moving average crossovers. It aims to identify potential trend reversals and entry points by comparing price action across different resolutions, allowing traders to capture higher-timeframe trends while executing on lower timeframes.
Usage
The indicator can be used to identify trend direction and potential trade entries through visual signals on the chart.
- Long Signals: Occur when the higher-timeframe open crosses above the higher-timeframe close in a specific sequence.
- Short Signals: Occur when the higher-timeframe open crosses below the higher-timeframe close.
- Alternate Resolution: Users can define a multiplier for the resolution (e.g., viewing 30x the current chart timeframe) to filter noise and focus on broader market movements.
- Exit Logic: The tool includes built-in logic for Take Profits (TP), Stop Losses (SL), and Trailing Stops (TS), which are plotted directly on the chart to assist in trade management.
Details
The script functions by calculating smoothed OHLC values (Open, High, Low, Close) using a Simple Moving Average (SMA) and then projecting these values from a higher timeframe onto the current chart. It uses request.security with gaps=barmerge.gaps_off and lookahead=barmerge.lookahead_on for the resolution logic, while providing an optional "Delay" setting to mitigate repainting issues. The core signal logic is derived from the interaction between the multi-timeframe open and close series.
Settings
Main Configuration
- MA Length: The length of the moving average used to smooth the price data.
- Use Alternate Resolution?: Enables the calculation of signals based on a higher timeframe.
- Multiplier for Alternate Resolution: Determines the timeframe for the MTF calculation relative to the chart timeframe.
- Delay Open/Close MA: An offset applied to calculations to help prevent repainting.
- Use Heikin-Ashi Candles?: Switches the base price calculation to Heikin-Ashi candles for smoother trend detection.
Strategy & Alerts
- Allow Longs/Shorts: Filters signals to only show specific trade directions.
- Flip/Invert Strategy: Reverses the long and short signal logic.
- Trailing Stop / Take Profit / Stop Loss: Customizable risk management parameters expressed as percentages.
FAQ
How do I use the MTF multiplier effectively?
The multiplier should be set based on your trading style; for example, setting it to '4' on a 15-minute chart will analyze the 1-hour trend.
What is the "Delay Open/Close" setting for?
This setting forces the indicator to use confirmed data from previous bars, which helps ensure that signals do not disappear (repaint) once the current bar closes.
How can I access this tool?
You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.
