The Intraday buy and sell indicator for stock and options tool identifies high-probability entry and exit points by combining fast-moving price action with volume-weighted confirmation. It aims to help active traders filter out market noise and capture short-term momentum shifts using a dual-crossover methodology.

Usage

The indicator can be used to identify trend transitions and momentum breakouts during intraday sessions. A "BUY" label appears when the price action (specifically the candle low and close) stays entirely above both the 9-period Exponential Moving Average (EMA) and the 20-period Volume-Weighted Moving Average (VWMA). Conversely, a "SELL" label is triggered when the price action (high and close) remains entirely below both moving averages, signaling a shift to bearish momentum.

Example scenarios:

  • Long Entry: Look for a "BUY" label after a period of consolidation, indicating that price and volume are both trending upward.
  • Short Entry: Look for a "SELL" label when the price breaks down through the EMA and VWMA support levels.
  • Support/Resistance: Use the dynamic swing high and low levels to set price targets or stop-loss orders.

Details

The script utilizes a 9-period EMA to capture rapid price changes and a 20-period VWMA to validate those changes with volume data. The inclusion of volume via the VWMA ensures that signals are backed by market participation, reducing the likelihood of false breakouts. Additionally, the indicator calculates dynamic support and resistance levels based on swing highs and lows over a specific lookback period (5 bars on either side of the peak/trough), providing a clear visual representation of market structure.

Settings

  • EMA 9: Visualizes the 9-period Exponential Moving Average, used for detecting short-term price trends.
  • VWMA 20: Visualizes the 20-period Volume-Weighted Moving Average, used to confirm price trends with volume.
  • Swing High (Resistance): Plots the most recent significant high point to identify potential resistance zones.
  • Swing Low (Support): Plots the most recent significant low point to identify potential support zones.

FAQ

How do I use the Buy and Sell signals?

Signals are generated when the price closes and stays entirely on one side of both the EMA 9 and VWMA 20. A "BUY" occurs when the candle is above both, and a "SELL" occurs when it is below both.

What timeframes are best for this indicator?

While designed for intraday trading in stocks and options, it is most effective on lower timeframes like the 1-minute, 5-minute, or 15-minute charts where momentum shifts are frequent.
