The ZigZag Percent Reversal - Helper - Draw Patterns - Part 2 indicator is a technical analysis tool designed to plot price pivots based on percentage reversals while automatically detecting and drawing complex harmonic or price patterns. It helps traders identify structural shifts in the market and project potential target levels based on historical price swings.

Usage

The indicator can be used to visualize market structure and price patterns that occur after significant reversals. By setting a specific percentage threshold or using ATR-based volatility, users can filter out minor price fluctuations to focus on major movements.

Key Usage Examples:

  • Trend Identification: Use the zigzag lines to identify higher highs and lower lows to confirm trend direction.
  • Pattern Recognition: The tool automatically draws patterns once specific geometric ratios between pivots are met.
  • Target Projections: Based on the detected patterns, the script can plot potential exhaustion or target levels for future price action.

Details

This script operates by tracking high and low points since the last confirmed pivot. A new pivot is confirmed only when the price reverses by a set percentage (the reversal threshold) from the extreme point.

  • Reversal Logic: It calculates a _reverse_line based on the highest high or lowest low. If the close price crosses this line, a pivot is locked in.
  • Dynamic Volatility: Unlike standard ZigZags, this version allows for an ATR-based calculation, making the reversal threshold adaptive to current market volatility rather than just a static percentage.
  • Color Gradients: The script includes a sophisticated color gradient function that can visually represent the strength or range of movements across different themes like "Red and Green" or "Rainbow."

Settings

  • Method to use for the zigzag reversal range: Select between a static "MANUAL" percentage or various ATR-based volatility periods (ATR005 through ATR250).
  • Percent of last pivot price for zigzag reversal: Defines the sensitivity of the zigzag when the Manual method is selected.
  • Multiplier to apply to ATR if applicable: A scaling factor used when an ATR-based reversal method is active.
  • Show real zigzag pivots: A toggle to display the actual high/low points that triggered the reversal.
  • Gradient theme: Choose the color scheme for the indicator’s visual output, including options like Red and Green, Red and Blue, Blue and White, or Rainbow.
  • Flip?: Inverts the color gradient direction.

FAQ

How do I adjust the sensitivity of the patterns?

You can adjust the "Percent of last pivot price" setting. Lower percentages will result in more frequent pivots and smaller patterns, while higher percentages will capture broader market moves.

Can I use this for intraday trading?

Yes, the indicator supports ATR-based reversal methods which are particularly useful for intraday trading as they adapt to changing volatility throughout the session.

How do I access this tool?
