The Dynamic Support and Resistance with breakout indicator is a technical analysis tool designed to identify evolving market structures and detect potential price breakouts using a combination of smoothed open/close prices and swing levels. It aims to provide traders with a responsive framework for spotting entry and exit points based on the interaction between price action and dynamic trend zones.

Usage

The tool highlights market shifts through color-coded bar signals and dynamic levels plotted on the chart.

  • Trend Identification: The indicator monitors crossovers between simple moving averages (SMA) of green and red candle opens. A crossover signals a potential bullish shift, changing the bar color and initiating new support and resistance levels.
  • Support and Resistance Levels: When a signal is triggered, the indicator plots horizontal levels based on the high, low, and candle body values of the signal bar. These levels act as dynamic areas of interest.
  • Breakout Signals: A breakout is identified when the price closes above the established resistance level (calculated from the signal candle's body). This event triggers an alert, suggesting a continuation or acceleration of the current move.
  • Level Management: To maintain chart clarity, the plotted levels are automatically removed if the price successfully crosses back over the resistance line or if a set number of bars (10) have passed without a significant breakout.

Details

The script utilizes a unique logic that separates green and red candles to calculate independent moving averages for their open and close prices. By focusing on the "average" open of bullish vs. bearish bars, the indicator filters out market noise more effectively than a standard SMA.

The levels are anchored to the price action at the moment of a "SMA Open Crossover." These levels remain active until either a breakout occurs or the timeframe for the setup expires, ensuring that only relevant historical structure is displayed.

Settings

  • SMA: Determines the lookback period for the simple moving average applied to the open/close prices of green and red candles.
  • SwingEmaLookBack: Sets the lookback period used to identify the highest highs and lowest lows for calculating broader market swings.

FAQ

How do I use the breakout signals?

Breakout signals are generated when the price closes above the primary resistance level established by the signal candle. Traders often use this as a confirmation of bullish momentum.

Can I change the sensitivity of the trend detection?

Yes, by adjusting the SMA input, you can make the indicator more responsive (lower value) or more filtered (higher value) to price changes.
