L3 Composite MACD-KDJ-RSI-WR-DMI Trading System
Oct 7, 2020

The L3 Composite MACD-KDJ-RSI-WR-DMI Trading System indicator is a multi-oscillator framework that combines five popular technical indicators to generate comprehensive trend reversal and momentum-based trading signals. By synthesizing MACD, KDJ, RSI, Williams %R, and DMI, the tool aims to identify high-probability entry points through indicator resonance and divergence analysis.
Usage
This system serves as a complete dashboard on your chart, providing visual cues for different market conditions. It can be used to identify potential trend starts, exhaustion points, and reversals.
- Divergence Signals: The script automatically detects and labels bullish (bottom) and bearish (top) divergences for MACD, KDJ, and RSI. These are marked as MBD/MTD, KBD/KTD, and RBD/RTD respectively.
- Long Entries: The system generates six types of "BUY" signals. These range from KDJ oversold crossovers to complex trend resonance involving DMI and volume-weighted RSI.
- Short Entries: The system produces three types of "SELL" signals, typically triggered by overbought oscillators crossing under key thresholds or typical price momentum shifts.
- Trend Visualization: The script utilizes custom candle coloring to represent trend strength. Green/Blue candles generally represent bullish momentum, while Red/Neutral candles indicate bearish or weakening trends.
Details
The indicator is built on the concept of "resonance," where multiple independent technical calculations must align to produce a signal.
- MACD & KDJ: Used primarily for pulse and random index tracking to find short-term momentum shifts.
- RSI & Williams %R: Integrated to assess overbought/oversold extremes and speed of price change.
- DMI & Typical Price: Used to filter the direction of the underlying trend, ensuring that counter-trend signals are minimized. The script also calculates a custom "Long Trend" and "Short Trend" derivative to provide the secondary candle overlays, helping traders stay on the right side of the macro movement.
Settings
- MACD Inputs: Internal EMA lengths (12, 26, 9) are used to calculate the DIF, DEA, and Histogram components.
- KDJ Calculation: Uses a 21-period lookback for the Raw Stochastic Value (RSV), smoothed by custom weighting functions.
- DMI Period: Set to 10 periods for the Directional Movement calculations (DI+/DI-) and ADX.
- RSI Period: Multiple RSI lengths (5, 6, 12) are utilized across different signal logics.
- WR Period: A 10-period Williams %R is used to determine the Williams Percent Range for entry type 4.
FAQ
How do I interpret the "MBD" and "MTD" labels?
MBD stands for MACD Bottom Divergence (bullish), while MTD stands for MACD Top Divergence (bearish). These labels appear when price makes a new extreme but the MACD indicator fails to do so, suggesting a potential reversal.
What is the difference between the different "BUY" signals?
The BUY signals are numbered 1 through 6 in the source code logic. Some are based on simple oscillator crossovers (like KDJ), while others (like BUY 5) are based on complex moving average slopes and trigonometric calculations.
