Zone Shift
Jul 28, 2025

The Zone Shift indicator is a dynamic trend detection tool that utilizes hybrid moving average bands to identify structural market shifts and key reaction levels.
Usage
The Zone Shift tool can be used to align with the dominant market momentum through its color-coded candle system and dynamic volatility bands.
- Trend Alignment: Traders can use the real-time candle recoloring (green for uptrends, red/blue for downtrends) to quickly identify the current directional bias.
- Support and Resistance: The "Trend Initiation Level" (the dashed horizontal line) acts as a significant structural anchor. When a new trend is established, the indicator locks the extreme point of that shift, creating a zone that often acts as support or resistance.
- Entry Confirmation: The diamond labels (⯁) signify a trend retest. These appear when price crosses back over the Trend Initiation level in the direction of the current trend, offering potential high-confluence entry points for trend continuation.
- Volatility Analysis: The outer solid lines represent dynamic thresholds. Breakouts beyond these bands signal trend initiation, while the expansion or contraction of the bands helps visualize market volatility.
Details
The indicator constructs a three-line channel based on a unique hybrid calculation. The midline is the average of an Exponential Moving Average (EMA) and a Hull Moving Average (HMA). To account for market volatility, the upper and lower bounds are projected from this midline using a smoothed average candle range (SMA of High-Low).
The trend logic is specifically designed to filter noise:
- An uptrend is triggered when the candle Low crosses above the top band.
- A downtrend is triggered when the candle High crosses below the bottom band.
Additionally, the retest signals include a built-in time filter, requiring at least 5 bars between signals to ensure that only significant price reactions are highlighted.
Settings
- Length 60-200: Determines the lookback period for the EMA and HMA calculations. Smaller values make the bands more reactive, while higher values provide a smoother, long-term trend perspective.
- Up Color: Sets the color for candles and signals during an uptrend.
- Down Color: Sets the color for candles and signals during a downtrend.
FAQ
How do I interpret the diamond labels?
The diamond labels represent a "Trend Retest." This occurs when price revisits the price level where the current trend initially began and successfully pushes back in the direction of the trend, suggesting a continuation of momentum.
What is the purpose of the dashed midline?
The dashed midline represents the average of the EMA and HMA. It serves as a visual baseline for the trend; price relative to this line helps traders gauge whether the market is mean-reverting or extending toward the outer bands.
