The ICT Breakers (BOS / MSS - Market Structure) indicator identifies true breaker structures and market shifts based on the Inner Circle Trader (ICT) methodology. It distinguishes between internal structure and major swing points to filter out false signals, providing traders with clear insights into trend continuations (BOS) and trend reversals (MSS).

Usage

The Usage section focuses on identifying structural shifts and potential points of interest.

  • Market Structure Identification: The tool automatically plots two types of structural lines. A dotted line typically confirms the previous trend (BOS), while a solid line highlights the moment price breaks a key level (MSS), signaling a potential trend reversal.
  • Defining POIs: Beyond simply marking structure, these levels define potential Points of Interest (POI) where price may retrace before continuing in the new direction.
  • Filtering False Breakouts: Unlike standard internal structure tools, this indicator only confirms a bullish breaker when the specific high that created the low is broken (and vice versa for bearish scenarios), helping to ignore "fakeouts" within the internal range.
  • Multi-Timeframe Analysis: Users can select a higher timeframe in the settings to view major market structures while trading on a lower timeframe. For example, viewing 30m structure on a 5m chart allows for a broader perspective on the trend.

Details

The indicator calculates pivots based on a user-defined number of swing bars. It utilizes request.security to fetch data from higher timeframes for multi-timeframe analysis. The logic for a Market Structure Shift (MSS) can be customized to trigger based on either a candle close (Body Only) or a simple touch (Body / Wick), allowing for flexibility depending on the user's specific interpretation of ICT concepts.
