ATR & Fibonacci Expansion Zones
May 22, 2026

The ATR & Fibonacci Expansion Zones indicator is a multi-mode volatility framework designed to provide a comprehensive map of price expansion, session structure, and active range context. It utilizes ATR-based levels to establish volatility-adjusted zones from meaningful close references, offering traders clarity on price location relative to historical and current movement.
Usage
The Usage section describes how the script can be used to navigate different market environments. The indicator operates by selecting a single "ATR Engine" to maintain chart cleanliness while providing deep technical context.
- Volatility Mapping: Use the expansion grid to identify overextension or potential reversal zones. Levels are plotted from 23.6% up to 400% of the ATR.
- Session Context: Enable the ATR Session AVWAPs to see volume-weighted support and resistance anchored to the period start, the session high, or the session low.
- Internal Range Analysis: Use the Session Fibonacci Labels to determine where price is trading within the current high-to-low range, helping to distinguish between a trend expansion (ATR levels) and internal retracements (Fib levels).
- Asset-Specific Adjustments: The script automatically adapts to Stocks (handling pre-market data), Crypto (24/7 calendar days), and Futures (Globex session boundaries).
- Historical Analysis: Change the "ATR Level History" setting to view how price reacted to volatility zones in previous sessions.
Details
The script is built around the concept that ATR provides a more reliable "yardstick" for price movement than fixed percentages. It calculates expansion levels based on the selected timeframe (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, etc.) and anchors them to either the Previous Close (PCL) or Current Close (CC).
The Auto Close-Anchor feature is a core component for stock traders. During extended hours (pre-market/after-hours), the script anchors to the Current Close to stay responsive to live moves. During regular market hours, it switches to the Previous Close to maintain a consistent daily map.
The High/Low Boxes provide visual cues for liquidity zones. Unlike standard boxes, these are wick-based, highlighting the exhaustion or rejection areas formed at the extremes of the active ATR period.

FAQ
How do I determine which ATR Mode to use? Recommended chart timeframes are: Daily (1m–1h), Multiday (10m–2h), Swing (30m–1D), Position (4h–1W), and Long-Term (1D–1M).
What does the "Percent from Price" label represent? It shows the distance between the current price and the specific ATR level. A positive value means price is above the level, while a negative value means it is below.
