The StructureX Market Structure & Liquidity Engine indicator provides a comprehensive price action framework that automatically identifies market trends, structural transitions, and key liquidity zones. It aims to transform raw price data into a rule-based visual map, helping users distinguish between expansion, retracement, and reversal phases.

Usage

The Usage section describes how the script can be used to interpret market behavior. Users should first observe the primary market structure to determine the current directional bias.

  • Trend Identification: Use the swing-based detection to identify higher highs and higher lows (bullish) or lower highs and lower lows (bearish).
  • Confirming Direction: Wait for a "Break of Structure" (BOS) label to confirm that the current trend is continuing.
  • Spotting Transitions: Look for a "Change of Character" (CHoCH) to identify potential shifts in market sentiment or the start of a new trend.
  • Area of Interest Analysis: When price enters an Order Block (OB) or Fair Value Gap (FVG), observe price action for potential reactions. These are contextual zones rather than automatic entry signals.
  • Internal Structure: Use the optional internal structure toggle to see minor price movements and micro-structures within a larger timeframe trend.

Details

StructureX operates on a pivot-based detection system. To ensure accuracy and reduce market noise, the script requires a specific number of candles to form on either side of a high or low before confirming it as a swing point. This confirmation-based logic means that some elements may update in real-time during live candle formation but will remain fixed once the candle closes.

The "Mashup" engine integrates several technical concepts—Market Structure, Liquidity Sweeps, and Imbalances—into a single logical flow. For example, a structural break often triggers the identification of the specific Order Block or Fair Value Gap that caused the move, providing a layered view of the market's internal mechanics.

Settings

Structure Settings

  • Swing Lookback Length: Controls the sensitivity of swing high and low detection. Higher values result in a smoother, long-term structure.
  • Show BOS / CHoCH: Toggles the visibility of trend continuation and trend shift labels.
  • Show Internal Structure: Enables the visualization of minor structural breaks within major moves.
  • Internal Swing Length: Adjusts the sensitivity specifically for the internal structure layer.

Order Blocks & FVGs

  • OB Mitigation Type: Determines if an Order Block is invalidated by a wick touch or a candle close.
  • Max Active OBs/FVGs: Limits the number of historical zones displayed on the chart to maintain clarity.
  • FVG Filter: Allows users to display only bullish, only bearish, or all identified Fair Value Gaps.

Liquidity & Visuals

  • Liquidity Detection Range: Defines the lookback period used to identify key highs and lows for liquidity sweeps.
  • Show Swing Points: Displays labels (HH, HL, LH, LL) on the chart.
  • Trend Background: Toggles a colored background based on the current market bias (bullish or bearish).

FAQ

How do I interpret a Change of Character (CHoCH)? A CHoCH occurs when price breaks the most recent significant swing level against the current trend direction. It serves as an early warning that the previous trend may be ending or transitioning into a range.

Why do some lines move or disappear while a candle is active? The indicator uses confirmation logic. Until a candle closes, a structural condition might be met temporarily. The structure becomes stable and non-repainting only after the candle close confirms the logic requirements.
