The RSI Entry Engine tool is a comprehensive RSI-based entry framework designed to detect structured momentum transitions when a smoothed RSI reclaims defined extreme thresholds. It focuses on the specific moment the oscillator leaves an extreme condition to provide clearer entry signals compared to generic overbought or oversold readings.

Usage

The Usage section describes how the script identifies potential entries through RSI "reclaims." A bullish entry event is triggered when the smoothed RSI crosses upward through the Extreme Low level, while a bearish entry event occurs when it crosses downward through the Extreme High level. This ensures that signals are generated during a shift in momentum rather than simply when the oscillator is at a high or low value.

Entry Confirmation

Signals are confirmed only on the bar close. This prevent "repainting" or false signals caused by intrabar fluctuations that do not maintain their position by the end of the candle.

Trade Projection

When a signal is confirmed, the script can project a risk framework directly onto the price chart. This includes entry lines, stop-loss levels (based on ATR, Signal Candle, or Percentage), and take-profit targets derived from a user-defined risk/reward ratio. These boxes automatically extend forward as long as the trade is active.

Details

The script utilizes a multi-stage calculation process to define market states. It calculates a base RSI, applies a chosen smoothing method (EMA, SMA, or RMA), and derives a secondary signal line from the smoothed RSI.

The framework organizes RSI values into seven distinct states: Extreme High, Overbought, Bullish, Neutral, Bearish, Oversold, and Extreme Low. This hierarchy allows the script to differentiate between a standard oscillator cross and a high-conviction reclaim from extreme zones. The smoothing layer is critical as it reduces noise, ensuring that the reclaim logic does not react to minor, insignificant price fluctuations.

Settings

RSI Engine

  • RSI Source: The price source used for calculation (e.g., Close, Open, HLC3).
  • RSI Length: The lookback period for the base RSI.
  • RSI Smoothing: The averaging method (EMA, SMA, RMA, or None) applied to the raw RSI.
  • Smoothing Length: The period for the initial smoothing stage.
  • Signal Length: The lookback period for the secondary signal line.
  • Signal Smoothing: The averaging method for the signal line.

Zones

  • Overbought/Oversold: Standard threshold levels for the RSI state model.
  • Extreme High/Low: The specific boundaries used to trigger reclaim signals.

Trade Engine

  • Show TP / SL Boxes: Toggles the visual projection of trade levels on the price chart.
  • Entry Price: Determines if the projected entry uses the Close, Open, or HLC3 of the signal bar.
  • Stop Loss Mode: Sets the calculation method for the stop (Signal Candle High/Low, ATR-based, or fixed Percentage).
  • Risk Reward: Sets the multiplier for the take-profit distance relative to the stop-loss.
  • Same Bar TP/SL Priority: Determines which outcome is prioritized if both levels are hit on the same candle.

Visuals & Alerts

  • Highlight Extreme Background: Visually flags extreme RSI conditions in the oscillator pane.
  • Show Status Panel: Displays a summary of current RSI value, state, and momentum.
  • Enable Alert Options: Individual toggles for RSI crosses, zone reclaims, centerline transitions, entry signals, and trade outcomes.

FAQ

How do I access the RSI Entry Engine?

You can get access on the LuxAlgo Library for charting platforms like TradingView, MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), and NinjaTrader for free.

Why does the signal only appear after a bar closes?

The script requires bar-close confirmation to ensure the RSI reclaim is sustained, reducing false signals caused by temporary price spikes.

Can I change how the Stop Loss is calculated?

Yes, the script supports three modes: "Signal Candle" (using the candle's extremes), "ATR" (adjusting for volatility), and "Percent" (fixed distance).
