The Multi-Layer Support Resistance & Auto Trendline indicator provides an advanced analysis engine that automatically detects critical horizontal levels and diagonal trendlines across four distinct lookback periods to visualize market structure.

Usage

The Multi-Layer Support Resistance & Auto Trendline tool is designed to simplify market structure analysis by identifying confluence zones where multiple technical elements align.

  • Horizontal Levels: Automatically identifies price ceilings and floors based on pivot points. The script filters noise by requiring multiple touches for standard levels while prioritizing ultra-long-term historical walls.
  • Auto Trendlines: Eliminates manual drawing by connecting valid pivot highs and lows. This helps in identifying trend channels and potential breakout points.
  • Gap Detection: Detects "Windows" or price gaps, marking them as high-priority zones. These often serve as magnetic levels for future price action (gap fills).
  • Confluence Trading: Users should look for areas where a diagonal trendline intersects with a horizontal level or a gap zone. These intersections represent higher probability areas for reversals or continuations.

Details

The script operates using a multi-layer logic, processing four different timeframes/lookback periods simultaneously:

  1. Short-term: Captures immediate market noise and minor pivots.
  2. Mid-term: Identifies intraday swings.
  3. Long-term: Highlights significant structural shifts.
  4. Ultra-long (Legacy): Focuses on historical price levels that remain relevant over long durations.

The indicator uses the ta.pivothigh() and ta.pivotlow() functions to find anchors for both horizontal lines and trendlines. A "strength" check is performed for horizontal levels to ensure they have been tested by price action before being confirmed, unless they belong to the ultra-long category.

Settings

Main Settings

  • Response Speed (Right Bars): Sets the number of bars to wait for pivot confirmation. Higher values increase reliability but add lag.
  • Display Toggle: Allows users to show or hide Horizontal S/R, Trendlines, and Gap zones independently.
  • Lookback (Short, Mid, Long, Ultra-long): Defines the window size for each layer's pivot detection.
  • Horizontal/Trend Line Count: Limits the number of active lines drawn on the chart to maintain clarity.

Visuals

  • Resistance/Support Color: Customizes the primary colors for bearish and bullish levels.
  • Layer Groups (Short to Legacy): Each layer has individual settings for line width and transparency (Alpha) to help distinguish between minor and major levels.

FAQ

How do I interpret the different line styles? Dotted lines typically represent shorter-term, more reactive levels, while solid lines represent longer-term structural levels and gaps.

Can I use this for scalping? Yes, by focusing on the "Short-term" layer and adjusting the Response Speed, scalpers can identify immediate intraday hurdles.
