The Krown Trading Moving Averages tool provides a comprehensive trend analysis framework by plotting four exponential moving averages and two simple moving averages to help traders identify momentum shifts and institutional support or resistance levels.

Usage

The Usage section describes how the script can be used to interpret market structure and trend strength. Traders typically use the various moving average layers to determine the current market regime.

  • Trend Identification: When price remains above the cluster of moving averages, it indicates a bullish trend. Conversely, price trading below the averages suggests a bearish trend.
  • Momentum Crossovers: The relationship between the 21 EMA (EMA 1) and 55 EMA (EMA 2) is a primary focus for identifying short-to-medium term momentum shifts. A crossover of these two lines can signal a potential change in trend direction.
  • Dynamic Support and Resistance: The longer-term 100 and 200 period averages (both EMA and SMA) often act as areas of value where price may find support during a retracement or face resistance during a relief rally.

Details

The script is a refactored implementation of the setup featured on the Krown’s Crypto Cave YouTube channel. It calculates four Exponential Moving Averages (EMA), which are more reactive to recent price action, and two Simple Moving Averages (SMA), which provide a smoother, unweighted average of price over longer durations.

By layering both EMA and SMA calculations, the indicator allows for a more nuanced view of the market. The EMAs capture rapid changes in sentiment, while the SMAs highlight the broader, "institutional" levels that are widely watched by long-term participants. The script also includes optimized alert conditions for crossovers between the 21 and 55 EMAs to streamline trade monitoring.

Settings

  • EMA 1 - 4: Sets the lookback period for the four Exponential Moving Averages.
  • MA 1 - 2: Sets the lookback period for the two Simple Moving Averages.
  • Source Inputs: Defines the price data (Close, Open, High, Low, etc.) used for each individual moving average calculation.
