The Large Order Delta Profile indicator is an order-flow visualization tool that splits delta profiles across customizable transaction-size categories to compare participant activity. This tool allows traders to distinguish between retail flow and institutional-sized orders by separating market activity into different profiles based on dollar-value thresholds.

Usage

The Usage section focuses on identifying price levels where different classes of market participants are active. By comparing the side-by-side profiles, users can determine if large orders align with the broader market direction or represent a divergent interest.

  • Comparing Flow: View smaller, medium, and large transaction profiles simultaneously to identify institutional participation.
  • Directional Pressure: Use the horizontal expansion of profile blocks to visualize aggressive buying (bullish delta) or aggressive selling (bearish delta).
  • Volatility Adaptation: Adjust the level granularity to allow the profile rows to scale based on market conditions (high vs. low volatility).
  • Imbalance Mapping: Identify price zones with significant net imbalances to find areas of strong support or resistance created by high-value transactions.

Details

The script builds session-based profiles using lower-timeframe data (ticks, seconds, or minutes) to estimate directional pressure. It utilizes a dynamic level-spacing algorithm based on ATR, ensuring that profile rows remain relevant regardless of the asset's current volatility. Depending on the selected granularity, the tool employs bid/ask estimation or candle-direction logic to classify trades. Transactions are filtered into specific tiers based on their estimated dollar value, allowing for a granular breakdown of total volume into "small," "large," and "extreme" categories.

Settings

  • Data Granularity: Selects the timeframe (1-Tick, 1-Second, 1-Minute) used to calculate delta and volume.
  • Session: Defines the timeframe over which the profile resets and rebuilds (e.g., Daily).
  • Level Granularity: Controls the spacing of the profile rows; lower values result in more granular levels.
  • Filter Value (Dollars): Sets the minimum dollar-value threshold for each of the three profile segments.
  • Offset: Adjusts the horizontal placement of each profile on the chart.
  • Bull/Bear Color: Customizes the visual appearance of bullish and bearish delta blocks.
  • Show Delta: Toggles raw imbalance value labels on the chart.

FAQ

How do I interpret a long bar in the profile?

A long bar indicates a price level with a significant net delta imbalance, suggesting that aggressive market participants (buyers or sellers) were highly active at that specific price.

What is the difference between the three profiles?

Each profile represents a different transaction size range based on your "Filter Value" settings, allowing you to see if "whales" are buying at the same levels where "retail" is selling.
