The Order Flow Delta Tracker indicator provides a comprehensive look at market volume dynamics by tracking buying and selling pressure through delta-based calculations. It is designed to help traders identify hidden accumulation or distribution by visualizing the net volume flow and its relationship with price action.

Usage

The Order Flow Delta Tracker can be used to spot market imbalances and trend exhaustion. Key applications include:

  • Delta Columns: Visualize the net difference between buying and selling volume for each bar. Green columns indicate net buying, while red columns indicate net selling.
  • Cumulative Delta: Identify the long-term trend of volume flow. When price makes a new high but Cumulative Delta makes a lower high, it signals a bearish divergence.
  • Absorption & Imbalance: The tool highlights specific price action scenarios where volume is high but price movement is restricted (Absorption) or where price movement significantly exceeds standard candle proportions (Imbalance).
  • Delta Spikes: Use the fuchsia cross signals to identify bars with unusually high delta activity, often preceding significant volatility.

Details

The indicator calculates delta by comparing closing prices to opening prices to estimate buy/sell volume distribution. It then applies several analytical layers:

  • Divergence Logic: It monitors price highs against the 50-period cumulative delta to flag potential reversals.
  • Session Tracking: It includes a session-based cumulative delta that resets daily, allowing for intraday volume flow analysis.
  • Normalization: A normalized price line (0-100 scale) is included to help compare price relative to its 50-period range against volume fluctuations.

Settings

  • Delta: Displays the net buying/selling per candle as a histogram.
  • Cumulative Delta: A running sum of delta over a specified lookback period (default 50 bars).
  • Imbalance Signal: Highlights backgrounds when price extension significantly outweighs the candle body.
  • Absorption: Marks bars where high volume fails to produce significant price movement.
  • VWAP: Plots the Volume Weighted Average Price for trend context.
  • Session Cumulative Delta: Tracks volume flow specifically from the start of the current trading day.

FAQ

How do I use the divergence signal?

The "Δ Divergence" label appears when price reaches a new 10-bar high but the cumulative delta fails to confirm that high, suggesting that the upward move lacks strong volume support.

What is a Delta Spike?

A Delta Spike occurs when the absolute delta of a bar is more than twice its 20-period average, indicating a sudden burst of aggressive market participation.
