The QQE (Quantitative Qualitative Estimation) Weighted Oscillator is a powerful trading indicator that enhances the classic version by applying a unique weighting methodology to the RSI. This process requires more effort for the RSI to intersect with the trailing stop, thereby enhancing its precision.

How to Trade the QQE Weighted Oscillator?

QQE Weighted Oscillator

The QQE Weighted Oscillator consists of a smoothed RSI oscillator accompanied by a trailing stop derived from that same RSI. Traders can utilize this oscillator to identify overbought or oversold market conditions, and it provides an early warning for potential trend reversals thanks to the RSI's leading characteristics.

Market Conditions

The use of higher Factor values allows for the configuration of a longer-term trailing stop, enhancing the medium to long-term trading strategies.

Longer-Term Trailing Stop

The oscillator can identify divergences similar to that of a regular RSI, which may indicate upcoming reversals.

Further weighting adjusts the degree of effort required for the RSI to cross below or above the trailing stop. For instance, when the RSI is situated above the trailing stop, a more significant negative price fluctuation is needed to instigate a crossing when employing higher weights.

Adjust Weighting

This adjustment results in more cyclic and smoother outcomes, which can be beneficial for trading strategies aiming for consistency.

  • Length: Determines the length of the RSI oscillator.
  • Factor: A multiplicative factor influencing the trailing stop calculation.
