The RSI Multi Levels 7-14-42 Consolidation indicator utilizes a triple-RSI layout and specialized momentum zones to help traders identify trend continuations, potential reversals, and range-bound market behavior.

Usage

The Usage section focuses on how the three RSI periods (7, 14, and 42) interact with specific visual zones to provide market context.

  • Trend Continuation: When the RSI 7 enters the "High Potential" zone (78-85 or 15-22) alongside a new price high or low, it suggests strong momentum. Traders can look for price to continue its trend after a shallow correction toward the Mid Potential zone.
  • Reversal or Slowdown: If the RSI 7 exits the High Potential zone while price is testing a previous structural high or low, it indicates weakening momentum and an increased probability of a short-term reversal.
  • Range Behavior: In consolidating markets, the RSI 7 typically oscillates within the "Mid Potential" zone (70-78 or 22-30). These repetitive reactions can be used to identify mean reversion opportunities within a channel.
  • Extreme Reactions: Readings near 90 or below 10 are treated as exhaustion points, often resulting in sharp, immediate price corrections.

Details

This tool moves away from traditional overbought/oversold logic (30/70) and instead categorizes RSI behavior into three distinct behavioral ranges:

  • High Potential: 78 to 85 & 15 to 22
  • Mid Potential: 70 to 78 & 22 to 30
  • Low Potential: 58 to 62 & 38 to 42

By monitoring a short-term (7), medium-term (14), and long-term (42) RSI simultaneously, the script provides a multi-timeframe perspective on momentum quality. The 7-period RSI is the primary signal driver, while the 14 and 42 periods serve as filters for broader trend strength.

FAQ

How do I interpret the High Potential zone?

Can this be used for range trading?

Yes, the Mid Potential zone is specifically designed to highlight areas where RSI reacts during clean ranges or horizontal channel structures, making it useful for swing trading.
