Ultimate Moving Average with EMA 50,100,200 and Parabolic SAR
Jul 21, 2019

The Ultimate Moving Average with EMA 50,100,200 and Parabolic SAR indicator provides a comprehensive trend-following toolkit by combining multi-timeframe moving averages, standard exponential moving averages, and volatility-based trend signals to identify market momentum and potential reversals.
Usage
The Usage section focuses on how to interpret the various technical layers provided by the script. Traders can use the primary multi-timeframe (MTF) moving average to track trends on higher intervals while remaining on their current chart. By enabling the optional second moving average, users can identify crossovers, which are highlighted by on-chart cross icons when the "Show Dots on Cross" setting is active.
The indicator also includes fixed-length EMAs (9, 50, 100, 200) to act as dynamic support and resistance levels. The Parabolic SAR dots provide additional confirmation for trend direction and potential stop-loss placement; green dots below price indicate an uptrend, while red dots above price indicate a downtrend.
Details
This script integrates several core technical analysis concepts into a single overlay. The primary moving averages are highly customizable, allowing the user to select from seven different calculation types: SMA, EMA, WMA, Hull MA, VWMA, RMA, and TEMA.
The multi-timeframe functionality utilizes the request.security function to fetch data from different resolutions, ensuring the trend analysis remains consistent with higher-level market structures. The color-coding logic is based on the slope of the moving average, determined by the "Color Smoothing" lookback, which compares the current value to a previous value to detect shifts in momentum.
Settings
Primary Moving Average
- Use Current Chart Resolution?: When enabled, the MA uses the current chart's timeframe. When disabled, it uses the custom timeframe selected below.
- Use Different Timeframe?: Specifies the timeframe for the MTF calculation (e.g., Daily, Weekly).
- Moving Average Length: The lookback period for the primary MA calculation.
- MA Type: Selects the calculation method (1=SMA, 2=EMA, 3=WMA, 4=HullMA, 5=VWMA, 6=RMA, 7=TEMA).
- Change Color Based On Direction?: Toggles color changes based on whether the MA is sloping up or down.
- Color Smoothing: Determines the lookback period used to compare MA values for color changes.
Secondary Moving Average
- Optional 2nd Moving Average: Enables a second MTF moving average on the chart.
- Moving Average Length - Optional 2nd MA: The lookback period for the second MA.
- MA Type 2nd MA: Selects the calculation method for the second MA.
- Show Dots on Cross of Both MA's: Displays a visual marker whenever the first and second MAs intersect.
Parabolic SAR
- Start: The initial acceleration factor for the Parabolic SAR (multiplied by 0.01).
- Step Setting (Sensitivity): The increment value for the acceleration factor (multiplied by 0.01).
- Maximum Step: The cap for the acceleration factor (multiplied by 0.10).
- Show Up/Down Trending Parabolic Sar: Toggles the visibility of the SAR dots for specific trend directions.
