The Standardized Cumulative Deltas trading indicator is designed to help traders measure and compare overall sentiment across multiple assets at once. By calculating the standardized open-close difference (delta) cumulatively for up to 10 tickers, this tool creates a visual representation of bullish and bearish flows across a chosen basket of markets. Whether you’re tracking cryptocurrencies, forex pairs, equities, or commodities, the indicator provides a consolidated sentiment map that goes far beyond what single-asset indicators can show.

Instead of being interpreted as a classic time-series oscillator, this tool focuses on summarizing group sentiment. Traders can easily identify when the majority of selected assets lean bullish (above zero) or bearish (below zero) over a chosen lookback period. This makes it especially powerful for basket trading strategies, sector analysis, and correlation studies.

How to Trade with the Standardized Cumulative Deltas Indicator?

Unlike traditional oscillators that provide buy/sell signals based on time progression, this indicator is built to highlight sentiment across assets. When most of the cumulative delta values stay above zero, the basket is experiencing bullish conditions. Conversely, when values cluster below zero, sellers dominate.

The lookback period defines how much historical data is used to build this sentiment profile:

  • Auto Lookback (default): Uses all visible bars on the chart.
  • Manual Lookback: Allows traders to set a fixed number of bars (e.g., 500) for more consistent comparisons.

This flexibility lets traders adapt the tool to different markets and trading styles.

You can include up to 10 tickers simultaneously, making it easy to create custom watchlists — from crypto majors like BTC, ETH, and SOL, to forex majors, US equities, or commodity baskets.

Understanding Densities: Bullish vs. Bearish Zones

The indicator plots density areas that summarize bullish and bearish cumulative deltas:

  • Bullish Density (Upper Area): Reflects the strength of positive deltas across the selected assets.
  • Bearish Density (Lower Area): Reflects the strength of negative deltas.

These densities change their meaning depending on the selected Density Mode:

  • Average Mode: Densities represent the average bullish or bearish deltas across the group. A stronger bullish density indicates consistent positive sentiment across assets.
  • Envelope Mode: Densities reflect the extreme high/low values, highlighting volatility and strength of extreme moves within the basket.

Dashboard for Multi-Asset Tracking

To simplify analysis, the tool includes a dashboard showing all active tickers with their corresponding colors. This makes it easy to differentiate between individual asset contributions while still keeping an eye on the overall sentiment trend.

Technical Details

Densities Calculation

indicator image

Densities are calculated by applying a forward-backward exponential moving average (EMA) on the selected cumulative series (average or extremes). This smoothing creates clearer envelopes with reduced noise. The smoothing strength is controlled by the Smoothing parameter, though traders should note that this method can involve repainting.
