AA Momentum Confirmation Engine
May 16, 2026

The AA Momentum Confirmation Engine indicator provides a streamlined trend-following framework that identifies high-probability momentum shifts by combining Hull Moving Average dynamics with EMA crossovers. It filters market noise to pinpoint the beginning of bullish and bearish phases, offering clear visual signals for trend traders.
Usage
The Usage section describes how the script can be used to navigate market trends and identify entry points. The indicator is primarily designed for trend confirmation and momentum trading across various timeframes.
- Trend Identification: The indicator colors bars based on the prevailing market regime. Green bars indicate a confirmed bullish trend, red bars indicate a confirmed bearish trend, and gray bars signify neutral or indecisive conditions.
- Signal Execution: BUY and SELL labels appear only on the first candle where all momentum conditions are met. This prevents repetitive signaling during extended trends and helps traders focus on the initial breakout or reversal.
- Momentum Filtering: By evaluating the acceleration of the Hull Moving Average (HMA), the script filters out weak price movements that lack sufficient velocity to sustain a trend.
- Confirmation Mode: Users can enable "Candle Close Confirmation" to ensure signals only trigger once a bar has finalized, reducing the impact of intra-bar volatility.
Details
The AA Momentum Confirmation Engine utilizes a multi-layered logic system to define market regimes:
- Hull Moving Average (HMA): The script calculates a fast-reacting HMA to determine the immediate price direction. It specifically looks for "Hull Acceleration," where the slope of the HMA is not only positive or negative but also increasing in intensity relative to the previous bar.
- EMA Crossover: A secondary filter uses the relationship between a Fast EMA and a Slow EMA. A bullish regime requires the Fast EMA to be above the Slow EMA, while a bearish regime requires the inverse.
- Price Action: The current closing price must be above the Hull MA for a bullish signal and below it for a bearish signal.
A BUY signal is generated when price > HMA, Fast EMA > Slow EMA, and the HMA slope is positive and accelerating. A SELL signal is generated when price < HMA, Fast EMA < Slow EMA, and the HMA slope is negative and accelerating.
Settings
Hull
- Hull Length: Sets the lookback period for the Hull Moving Average calculation.
EMA
- Fast EMA: Defines the period for the short-term Exponential Moving Average.
- Slow EMA: Defines the period for the long-term Exponential Moving Average.
Confirmation Mode
- Use Candle Close Confirmation: When enabled, the script ensures signals are only processed on confirmed bar closes to prevent repainting during an active candle.
Visuals
- Show EMA: Toggles the visibility of the Fast and Slow EMA lines on the chart.
- Show Hull: Toggles the visibility of the Hull Moving Average line.

- Hull Bull/Bear Color: Defines the color of the Hull MA line based on trend direction.
FAQ
How do I interpret the gray candles? Gray candles represent a neutral state where the momentum conditions (HMA slope, EMA crossover, and price position) are not in full alignment, suggesting a lack of a clear trend.
Why did a signal appear and then disappear? If "Use Candle Close Confirmation" is disabled, signals may fluctuate in real-time as price moves. Enabling this setting ensures signals are permanent once the candle closes.
