9:29 ET Fair Price Reversal
By LuxAlgoOct 27, 2026
9:29 ET Fair Price Reversal is an indicator on Vela, our next-generation charting platform, written in Pine Script®.
The 9:29 ET Fair Price Reversal indicator is a sophisticated analytical tool designed to identify potential trend reversals during the early session of the futures markets. By focusing on the 9:29 AM ET one-minute candle as a key reference point for initial market sentiment, this indicator monitors for significant price excursions beyond that candle's body. Once a meaningful move is detected, the system waits for a confirmed market structure break to signal that the initial momentum has failed and a reversal is in progress. This approach helps traders capture high-probability entries while filtering out early-morning noise using volatility-based thresholds.
How to Trade the 9:29 ET Fair Price Reversal?
Trading with this indicator requires patience and adherence to the defined setup window. The indicator plots the open and close levels of the 9:29 ET candle for a set duration after the market open.
- Initial Excursion: Monitor price until it moves significantly away from the 9:29 candle body. This move must exceed a specific multiple of the Average True Range (ATR), indicating that the initial momentum has been pushed far enough to warrant a reversal check.
- Market Structure Analysis: Once the price has reached the target excursion, the indicator looks for structural pivots. If you are looking for a long reversal, you need to see a lower-high pivot structure form after the price has dropped below the lower body level. Conversely, for a short, look for a higher-low pivot structure after the price has climbed above the upper body level.
- Signal Confirmation: The indicator provides visual cues (MSS LONG or MSS SHORT labels) once the price crosses the trigger level of the established pivot structure. An entry should ideally occur when the closing price breaks the designated swing point back toward the original 9:29 fair price area.
9:29 ET Fair Price Reversal Settings
Reversal system
- NQ reference symbol: Defines the specific instrument used to calculate the 9:29 reference levels, ATR metrics, and market structure.
- Setup window from 9:30 ET (minutes): Determines how long after the market open the indicator will look for initial moves and structural shifts.
- Move-away ATR length: The lookback period used for the ATR calculation to measure the initial volatility push away from the 9:29 body.
- Significant move: ATR multiple: Sets the threshold of how far price must deviate from the 9:29 body to validate an excursion, acting as a filter against minor price fluctuations.
Market structure
- Structure pivot strength (bars each side): Controls the sensitivity of pivot detection. Higher values require more bars to confirm a swing, which filters noise but may result in later signal generation.
