Order Types places up to three simulated tickets at a clicked placement bar and tracks the basic order types — market, limit, stop, and stop-limit, each with GTC, Day, or IOC time-in-force — through their lifecycle. Resting limits draw as solid lines, dormant stop triggers as circles. Fills are gap-aware — a level gapped over fills at the open — and an order blotter lists each ticket's levels, time-in-force, liquidity role, and live status.

How to Trade the Order Types?

  • Filled markers: print the fill price and note slippage on liquidity-taking fills.
  • Touched · fill not assured: under the default trade-through model a touch reaches the queue, not a certain fill.
  • Gapped past limit: a stop-limit triggered into a gap beyond its limit and rests unfilled — the failure mode price-controlled stops accept.
  • Expired / canceled labels: Day tickets die unfilled at the session roll; IOC cancels whatever cannot fill on submission.

The default trio — Buy Limit below, Buy Stop above, Sell Stop-Limit on a Day clock — shows pullback, breakout, and price-protected behavior side by side; alerts cover fills, triggers, touches, gap-throughs, and expiries.

Order Types Settings

  • Placement Time: set by clicking when the indicator is added.
  • ATR Length (default 14): behind automatic offsets.
  • Per ticket: Enable, side, and type (defaults Buy Limit, Buy Stop, Sell Stop-Limit — all enabled), Price / Trigger (0 = automatic), Auto Distance (x ATR) (defaults 1, 1, 2), Stop-Limit Price (0 = a band past the trigger), Time-in-Force (defaults GTC, GTC, Day).
  • Limit Fill Model (default Trade-Through): when a resting limit counts as filled.
  • Slippage (Ticks) (default 0): adverse ticks on liquidity-taking fills only.
  • Stop-Limit Band (x ATR) (default 0.5): trigger-to-limit distance — how much chase the order tolerates.
  • Style toggles — Event Markers, Order Tags, Stop-Limit Band Shading, Order Blotter — all enabled by default.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why didn't a resting limit fill when price touched it?

Trade-Through requires price to trade beyond the level — a touch only reaches the queue at that price. Switch the Limit Fill Model to Touch for the optimistic reading; the touch event is marked either way.

Which fills slip?

Only liquidity takers: market orders and triggered stop-markets. Resting limit fills never slip; marketable limit and stop-limit fills slip but stay capped at their limit price.

Where do brackets and OCO exits fit in?

They are composite arrangements of these instructions, covered by the companion Order Constructs build — the linkage single tickets do not carry.
