The Bitcoin Kill Zones tool highlights critical trading sessions and "Kill Zones" for the New York, London, and Asia markets directly on the chart to assist traders in identifying periods of high volatility and liquidity.

Usage

The tool is primarily used to visualize market opens and high-interest trading windows. Traders can use these highlighted zones to anticipate price expansions or reversals that often occur during the first hour of a major market session.

  • Pre-Market (Blue): A 30-minute window before the market open, signaling preparation for the upcoming session.
  • Kill Zones (Red/Green/Orange): The first hour of the market open, subdivided into focus bands (10min focus, 40min core, 10min tail) to pinpoint the initial volatility spike.
  • Full Session (Silver): Highlights the remaining duration of the market session until the close.

By identifying these zones, traders can better align their strategies with the institutional order flow typically present during these hours.

Details

The indicator is based on concepts popularized by session-based trading strategies, specifically focusing on the "Kill Zone" concept which represents the most volatile part of a trading session. It utilizes specific time ranges to dynamically color the chart background. The logic is built upon established session times, though it includes refined segments for the opening hour to provide granular visibility into the "initial balance" of the session.
