Concept family
Trend
Moving-average lineage, trend systems, Ichimoku, strength measures, and chart geometry.
Trend analysis studies sustained directional movement: whether price is making progress in one direction, how strong that progress is, and where it stalls or turns. Because most strategies either follow trends or fade them, this family underpins much of the rest of the library.
The material runs from smoothing itself (moving averages and the digital filters that refine them) through the rules traders build on an average, to complete systems such as Supertrend and Ichimoku. Alongside the indicators sit strength gauges like ADX, drawn geometry from trendlines to regression channels, and the vocabulary of trend events: breakouts, pullbacks, exhaustion, and reversal, the moments where a trend begins, rests, or ends.

Breakout
A decisive move beyond a defined level or range, the most-referenced concept in this family and a standard trigger for entries and pattern confirmations.
29 indicators
Supertrend
An ATR-based line that trails price and flips between bullish and bearish states, reducing trend direction to a single unambiguous read.
11 indicators
EMA
The exponential moving average weights recent prices more heavily than the simple form, making it a standard building block inside crossovers, MACD, and many larger systems.
2 indicators
Moving-average lineage
The main ways of averaging price, from the simple and exponential staples through Hull, zero-lag, and least-squares variants to adaptive and volume-weighted designs such as KAMA, VIDYA, and VWMA.
Digital filters & smoothers
Signal-processing approaches to trend extraction, several popularized by John Ehlers, that treat price as a noisy series and apply engineered filters in search of a better trade-off between smoothness and lag.
MA applications
The rules traders layer on top of an average: crossovers, ribbons and Guppy stacks, slope filters, displacement and anchoring, and averages used as dynamic support or resistance.
Trend-following systems
Indicators that maintain an explicit long or short state, such as Supertrend and Parabolic SAR, typically pairing each directional flip with a built-in trailing stop level.
Ichimoku system
Goichi Hosoda's one-glance framework, whose five lines and cloud combine trend direction, momentum, and support and resistance in a single overlay.
Trend strength & direction
Gauges such as ADX, Aroon, and the Kaufman Efficiency Ratio that ask whether a market is trending at all, and how decisively, before a directional method is applied.
Channels, lines & geometry
Drawn and fitted structures on price, from hand-placed trendlines and parallel channels to regression channels and the more contested Gann and pitchfork constructions.
Trend events
The recurring episodes in a trend's life, including breakouts that start moves, pullbacks and retests that interrupt them, and the exhaustion, climaxes, and reversals that end them.
